Pupils at Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy and Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy in Manchester have raised £871.78 for vital breast cancer research.

The Year 7 and 8 youngsters raised the money through selling pink ribbons, a bake sale of tasty treats and donating £1 to wear a splash of pink clothing or accessory to show support for the cause.

Students also had a presentation delivered with information about breast cancer, what they can do to help and activities to take part in during their Independent Research lessons

Through their efforts for Breast Cancer Now on 19 October the boys raised £414.16 and the girls raised £457.62

Executive Principal of Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy and Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, E Merva, said:

“It was great to see everyone in Years 7 and 8 participate and embrace this worthwhile cause and raise awareness of breast cancer in the process. Breast cancer is still the most common form of cancer in the UK. Each year around 11,500 women and 80 men lose their lives to the disease.”
